Expanding on the info taken from Kelly’s Directory and looking at the Census we find out a little more…
Mr Carey is shown on the 1881 Census as living at 6 Russell Street with his wife and his young family. The Census shows him as being a plumber despite Kelly’s directory describing him as a Whitesmith, perhaps the two trades were interlinked. Mr Carey does not appear to be on the Census of 1891.
