Number 62 is the Portuguese strip club with the ‘Max II’ sign above it on the modern photo above. From it’s first appearance in Kelly’s Directory 1892 to that of 1928 (the most modern directory I have access to) this premises was home to Harry Burton’s butchery business. That’s at least 36 years of butchering. There is a very different type of meat on display in the current establishment.
Number 62a can be seen to the left of this 1912 photograph, it is the shop closest to the camera on the corner.
