The Sweeting family were probably one of the most well known in the area for two reasons. Firstly their profession was that of undertakers and secondly they owned their business in Holland street from at least 1861 to 1928, that’s almost seventy years.

    Hi i am trying to trace a double burial or cremation of 2 babies (from triplets) in 1957 named frank johansen and elenor johansen they died at birth, tje mothers name was ivu johansen on 150 brixton road, it was either Mr sweeting or his son that took the babies coffins in the back seat of his car as ivy (my nan) had no money at the time, please can you help me thank you emma
